New computer MAC address registration for IP address

Per policy, Metro IT should know when a new computer will be joining the wired network. Requesting an IP address shouldn't be required. Personal computers, per policy, aren't allowed on the wired network.

Network Cabling, Switches, etc

Metro IT can provide a network cable for most purposes unless an overly long one is required. We can also assist in running cables. Purchasing network switches, cable covers, etc. is up to the PI and the research group, but Metro IT can certainly provide quotes and place the order with an approved account number.

Wireless Access

Eduroam: Primary campus wifi network for those with UCD login IDs. Your login to this network is loginid@ucdavis.edu (which may differ from your email address) and your campus passphrase. Eduroam is available at various universities throughout the world using those very same credentials.

UCD-Guest: Guest wifi network for visitors. Connect to the network, open a browser, and you will be prompted for some personal information to set up a temporary login and password.

If you find that wireless coverage isn't great in your location, let Metro IT know and we'll review things. We can add more access points as required.
